Mongolia finds itself among 88 ‘Free’ countries, designated by US-based NGO Freedom House in its annual report released on January 16. According to the Freedom in the World Report 2018, Mongolia has received an aggregate score of 85 out of 100. The 88 ‘Free’ countries make up 39 percent of the global population whereas there are 59 ‘Partly Free’ countries. The number of ‘Not Free’ countries stayed the same, 49. The 2018 Report highlights that democracy is in crisis today. For the 12th consecutive year, according to Freedom in the World, countries that suffered democratic setbacks outnumbered those that registered gains.
