FESTIVAL OF 30 THOUSAND CAMELS HELD IN SOUTH GOBI

A camel festival which involved 30,000 camels was held in Umnugobi province of Mongolia. Mongolia has the largest population of Bactrian camel in the world, whereas Umnugobi province is the habitat for two humped camels. A total of 152,281 camels has been counted at the end of 2018 in the province. The camel festival was celebrated in connection with the population of 30 thousands Galba Gobi red camel, hosting camel race, exhibition of dairy products and song competition among camel herders. In order to promote traditional customs related to camels, a camel caravan walked through the soum center, which fascinated the audience. Herders and residents, who contributed to population growth of the two humped camels, were awarded during the festival. The number of tourists from all around the world and visitors to the festival are increasing.
