Ulaanbaatar, 2024 April 2 /MONTSAME/. During the working visit, Prime Minster of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Han Duk-soo on April 1, 2024, in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene expressed gratitude for the USD 200 thousand humanitarian aid provided by the Government of the Republic of Korea to overcome Dzud natural disaster. In 2023, the number of Korean tourists that visited Mongolia increased by 60 % compared to the period before the pandemic, reaching 140 thousand.  There is a broad opportunity for the two countries to intensify the collaboration in the tourism sector and citizen exchange and enhance the relationship between businesses in this sector, the Prime Minister noted.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Han Duk-soo congratulated for the successful organization of “Go Mongolia” event, a promotion of Mongolia overseas that was held on March 28, 2024, in Seoul.  Noting that Mongolia pays attention to improving economic cooperation, and trade turnover, intensifying the establishment of the economic partnership agreement, and developing cooperation in the mining sector, Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene proposed to jointly implement the “People with Blue Spots” travel route.

Prime Minister of Mongolia L. Oyun-Erdene expressed the country’s interest in importing high-quality medicines from the Republic of Korea, introducing the Korean standard for pharmaceutical manufacturing in Mongolia, and enhancing cooperation in the health sector. The Premier also presented the possibility of wheat and fodder grain export from Mongolia.

On the same day, Prime Minister  Oyunedene received Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of Korea Hong Soon Young , and General Director Ani Byun-ho. During the meeting, the parties reviewed the joint projects and programs that implemented since 1992 and discussed the next investments, improvements in the credit issuance, speeding up the project implementation, and renewing the development cooperation document.

The Parties agreed on collaboration in infrastructure projects in Ulaanbaatar city such as tunnel, and road construction to be implemented under the Regional Development Policy of the Government of Mongolia. They also agreed to establish a Memorandum between the Development Bank of Mongolia and the Export-Import Bank for cooperation and exchange of experiences.
